The events
below require membership in our organization
for participation:
Hosta College - Typically
held the second weekend in March, Hosta College is hosted by
the Great Lakes Region of the American Hosta Society. Hundreds
of gardening enthusiasts gather at a vocational school in Piqua,
Ohio, to participate in classes on almost 50 different topics.
Preference in costs and scheduling is given to members of participating
local societies such as ours. The Indianapolis Hosta Society
has traditionally operated the Bookstore at Hosta College where
participants can purchase gardening books and materials at significant
discounts. For details, visit the Great
Lakes Region Website at: http://ihostohio.org/Portal/glhc/
Work Day at Dogwood Farm - Members travel to Parke County, IN,
where the IHS has their Hoop House, to prepare hostas for their
various projects. After a morning of working together we enjoy
a pitch-in dinner.
Bus Trip - This July event is a one or two-day trip to visit
gardens (public or private) and gardening centers in surrounding
communities.
Fall Banquet - Each September we dress up and dine together
before recognizing members for extraordinary contributions to
the Society and playing HOSTO for horticulture prizes.
Christmas Party - Members
bring their favorite appetizer or Christmas treat to a Holiday
social gathering. We have a voluntary gift exchange as well.
